Our GlowCup Story: Facial Cupping Expertise

FacialCupping.com Team(Updated May 20, 2026)

GlowCup started with a simple observation that led to a much larger project: people searching for facial cupping information online had few reliable, well-researched resources to turn to. Most search results fell into two categories 鈥?thin blog posts written primarily to promote affiliate products, or dense academic articles written for clinicians and researchers. There was no middle ground; no place that combined thorough research with practical, readable guidance that a beginner could actually use.

The Beginning

GlowCup was created to fill that gap. We set out to build a comprehensive resource center covering facial cupping from every angle 鈥?benefits, techniques, safety, tools, research, and product evaluation. Our founding team included contributors with backgrounds in skincare formulation, research methodology, content creation, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Each member brought a different perspective, but we shared a common frustration with the quality of information available and a commitment to doing better.

Before publishing a single article, we spent five months:

  • Reviewing the existing scientific literature on cupping therapy, mechanotransduction, and lymphatic drainage
  • Testing over a dozen facial cupping sets and individual tools against a structured evaluation framework
  • Consulting with licensed estheticians who use facial cupping in clinical practice
  • Interviewing TCM practitioners about traditional techniques and their modern applications
  • Developing our editorial standards, evidence-grading framework, and product evaluation methodology

The First Version

The initial version of FacialCupping.com launched in early 2026 with 30 articles organized across 8 topic areas. The response from readers confirmed that the gap we had identified was real 鈥?visitors consistently told us they appreciated content that was honest about limitations, transparent about methodology, and written for real people rather than algorithms.

From that foundation, we have expanded to:

  • Over 50 articles across 12 sections
  • Detailed product evaluations with published testing standards
  • A structured evidence-grading framework for health-related content
  • Technique guides with area-specific instructions
  • Oil recommendations based on skin type and ingredient analysis

Our Approach to Tool Evaluation

GlowCup’s product evaluation methodology is one of the things that sets us apart from other facial cupping resources. Our approach:

Independent Sourcing

We purchase every product we evaluate through standard retail channels using our own funds. We do not accept free samples from manufacturers. This policy costs us money 鈥?around $30-60 per product 鈥?but it eliminates the bias that free samples introduce. When a manufacturer sends a reviewer a free product, there is an unconscious pressure to return a favorable review. By purchasing everything ourselves, we avoid that dynamic entirely.

Multi-Rater Testing

Every product is tested by at least two team members working independently. Each rater scores the product against our published product standards without seeing the other rater’s scores. We then compare results and discuss significant discrepancies. This process reduces individual bias and produces more reliable evaluations.

Published Criteria

Our evaluation criteria are publicly documented on our standards page so readers can understand exactly how we reach our recommendations. The criteria cover material quality, usability, and safety 鈥?each with specific, measurable sub-criteria. We do not change criteria to favor certain products, and we document any updates to the framework.

Independence and Editorial Integrity

We operate FacialCupping.com as an independent editorial resource. Our content is not influenced by manufacturers, retailers, or advertisers. Key independence policies:

No paid placements: No brand can purchase a positive review, a guaranteed recommendation, or placement in any of our articles. Our recommendations are earned through product performance, not commercial arrangements.

Affiliate transparency: We clearly label affiliate relationships when they exist. Readers always know when a link may generate revenue for the site. Our product evaluations follow the same standards regardless of whether an affiliate link exists.

GlowCup products: Products from our own GlowCup line are evaluated under the same standards as any other brand. GlowCup product pages and reviews are clearly marked to distinguish them from third-party evaluations.

Editorial independence: Our editorial team has full control over content decisions. No commercial relationship influences which articles we write, how we frame topics, or what conclusions we reach.

Disclosure: GlowCup Ownership

FacialCupping.com is owned and operated by the same team that produces GlowCup products. This means that when we recommend GlowCup products, we have a clear commercial interest in those recommendations. We manage this conflict by:

  1. Evaluating GlowCup products under the same published standards as competitor products
  2. Clearly marking GlowCup products in our reviews and recommendations
  3. Including competitor products alongside GlowCup products in comparisons
  4. Publishing negative findings about GlowCup products if they fail to meet our standards

We believe that transparency about this relationship 鈥?rather than pretending it does not exist 鈥?is the most honest approach.

Looking Forward

Facial cupping research is still in its early stages, and we are committed to keeping pace with new evidence as it emerges. Our future plans include:

  • Updated research summaries: We review new publications monthly and update our evidence summaries accordingly
  • Original documentation: We are working on collecting before-and-after documentation and case studies from experienced users
  • Video technique guides: Step-by-step video content for beginners learning proper technique
  • Expanded product comparisons: More head-to-head testing and comparison content
  • Practitioner directory: A listing of licensed professionals who offer facial cupping services

The site will always be a work in progress because the field is still developing. There is much we do not yet know about facial cupping’s effects on the skin, particularly regarding long-term outcomes and optimal protocols. We see this uncertainty not as a weakness but as a reason to remain rigorous in our research and honest in our communication.

Our Commitment

We will continue to apply our three core principles 鈥?evidence-first, transparency, and accessibility 鈥?to everything we publish. If that means being more cautious than other sources, so be it. We would rather be called too conservative than contribute to the misinformation that already exists in the wellness space.

Every article on the site has been written, reviewed, and edited with the same editorial standards. Every product recommendation has been earned through our evaluation process. Every piece of evidence presented has been checked against its source. We do not get everything right 鈥?no resource does 鈥?but we are committed to correcting our mistakes openly and improving continuously.
